Singer Facilita 248 and Fashion Mate 248

Searching the internet I found out that the Singer Facilita 248 can use the flat cam black disc that the 248 Fashion Mate does. I understand that the Facilita was a machine made in Brazil, the manuals are in Spanish. I also compared the English version Book with the Spanish one and the disc that came with them are not the same, well not the same numbering.

You can also use : Fashion Mate 360, 328K, 338, 348 discs; Stylist Series: 538, 518, 418 and the older Singers Machines: 306, 319. It fits Singer models 242, 247, 248, 252, 257, 259, 267, 300, 353, 354, 362, 368, 588, 2315, 2330, 2515, 2530 and 7108.

If you look into ebay or other suppliers you will see there are two kinds of disc the flat one and the one that looks like a hat, those other were made for the Singer Touch and Sew .

I will keep investigating to know how many different stitches can you get from the 248 using all the different disc.

You can find the different type of stitches in the Singer sewing machines here in the Singer Stitch Reference:

My Heritage to My Granddaughters -Learning to Sew

I will give my two granddaughters, now eight years old, a sewing machine as soon as they can learn hand sewing. I will teach them how to use the machine to sew what they want. I already have the two sewing machines I will give them. One is at my home and the other is in New Jersey. I was lucky enough to get the same in ebay, that's why it's in New Jersey. It's a model that Simplicity had in the market some time ago. Since I bought it has given me an excellent service.

These are the sewing machines I sew with:

1. Singer 248 Facilita Low Shank (1974)
(discs- 12 discs 1,2,5,6,12,13,19,27,37,350,351,353,354,355)

(I will like to have disc number el 30 part-number 276330 and 352 part-number 171342)

2. Simplicity 2507 Val-U-Sew Low Shank

3. Serger Simplicity Expert Model
SL43390ED
413/2 Differential Feed

4. Singer Industrial Model 188U ( Mom gave this one to me) 1979

5. Singer 95-10 original (This was My grandma machine) 1940

1. Singer 248 Facilita Low Shank (1974)
(discos- 12 discos 1,2,5,6,12,13,19,27,37,350,351,353,354,355)
(Me encantaria tener el disco numero 30 part-number 276330 y el 352 part-number 171342)

2. Simplicity 2507 Val-U-Sew Low Shank

3. Serger Simplicity Expert Model - perfiladora
SL43390ED
413/2 Differential Feed

4. Singer Industrial Model 188U ( que me dió mi madre) 1979

5. Singer 95-10 original (Esta era de mi abuela) 1940

I Finished

Well, I sorted all my sewing patterns in four bundles:
1) Keep- The ones I like and the ones I will make gifts with
2)Throw out - garbage
3) Give away - to my daughter and to a internet site that collect pieces of patterns
4. Sell - almost 60% of them, this one I sorted in two different bundles, uncut and cut. I need to check if all the pieces are in the envelope.

I now need to do the same with all my cloth, fabrics and notions.
I need to have less inventory of everything.

Some of the ones I kept I did because there was a sentimental attachment to them:
1) the ones Mom gave me that she sew for me and my sisters when we were kids.
2) the first skirt I did 39 years ago in school.
3) the dress I did for myself to be used after my wedding dress
4) the ones I sew when I was pregnant

Guess what? I found my pattern. It is a Butterick Pattern #5439. It can be used for baby girls and boys. I had it inside a binder I have with other sewing patterns I made for babies. I also had in the binder other commercial sewing patterns that I use to do gifts everytime a baby is born.

Todays Lesson: Look even more patiently, where ever you think it may or may not be.

Today I found this other one M5353. The hat is different from the others.

Yesterday night I didn't even sleep looking all over internet for a pattern I had. I just think someone borrow it and never returned it. It is a lined reversible one-piece top with shoulder straps criss-crossed at the back and buttoned to front has matching bloomers with elastic casing at waistline and at leg edges forming self ruffles. I want to make one for my six month granddaughter.

My daughter is 27, I made this dress for her when she was a baby and did it like four more for that time. Then eight years ago when my granddaughters were born I made them for them too. It's Simplicity 5052. Well since I didn't find it at home I ask my daughters in law if they still had the dresses I made the baby girls when they were born so I can make a pattern out of them. I was not successful at that.

So I searched all over the internet. After searching and researching I found out that simplicity had three different issues of the dress (8165, 5052, and 8948). Knowing the numbers for each I search all the internet for the patterns. And wala I found 5052 together with 14 more children patterns in ebay. So I waited until the bid was almost done and I just looked in too late, it had already finished. I missed it by seconds when I was there waiting, there were more bidders.

Well I started all over my searching and found the 8948 pattern, it's even better since it has two different dresses and more sizes. You can make two different dresses or use the two together. The bid was for 4 patterns and this one was fantastic. After all this search I went to sleep at 4:23 in the morning.

Now I just need to wait for it in the mail. I will share my completed dress when I'm finish.

Todays Lesson: When you need something search patiently, even if you don't succeed the first time don't give up. Better things will make there way.
